AVON LAKE – The convention of Lorain County cycling rolls on at Marty’s Cycle Center, that has been selling bicycles for 25 years.

The bike emporium at 453 Avon Belden Road, Avon Lake, outlines its 25th jubilee this month. It continues as a family oriented bicycle store and has staff with decades of experience and generations of bicycle sales in northern Ohio.

Owner Marty Hasenstaub purchased Bob’s Cycle Center, at Lear Road and Electric Boulevard, in September 1986. The store stayed other 18 years until relocating to its stream site.

A local of Lakewood, Hasenstaub grew up as a rigging hound, streamer to Westgate Cycle in Rocky River to purchase tools for his Schwinn Stingray. Westgate Cycle owners Jim Metzger, who proposed his emporium in 1963 and right away functions at Marty’s Cycle Center, offering him a job.

“I’m not a rider, I’m more a mechanic,” Hasenstaub said. “I’m the array crew.”
